Reaching the Seychelles is actually quite straightforward, especially considering its remote location in the Indian Ocean. The main way most visitors arrive is by air, flying into Seychelles International Airport located on the main island of Mahe.
Several major airlines offer direct or one-stop flights to the Seychelles from Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. These include Emirates, Etihad Airways, Kenya Airways, and Condor. Flight time is typically 9 to 12 hours depending on your departure point. If you’re traveling from North America or Asia, you’ll likely have a layover in Europe or the Middle East to connect to a flight into the Seychelles. Some good connection airports include London, Paris, Dubai, and Doha.
Taxis and shuttle buses are available just outside the terminal to transport you to your hotel or resort. But you don’t have to worry about this, as your luxury wedding planners we will arrange pickup and drop for you and your guests from the airport to your luxury resort venues in Seychelles.
Flying into the Seychelles may require one or two stops and a full day of travel, but believe us, the rewards of arriving in paradise will make any long flights a distant memory. The beaches, jungles, and laid-back island vibe await! By the time you’ve had your first tropical cocktail, any travel exhaustion will melt away. A luxury Seychelles wedding simply wouldn’t be complete without an extravagant arrival on this exotic archipelago in the middle of the Indian Ocean.
The cost of a luxury wedding in Seychelles depends greatly on the size of your wedding, luxury beach wedding venues & resorts, and what your specific needs are. A Seychelles luxury destination wedding package depends on ceremony and reception venues, accommodation in a villa on a resort island, transportation to the ceremony site, cake, decorations, and bouquets.
If you’re looking to customize your celebration with additional extras such as food catering services or beachfront ceremonies, the costs will grow. For an approximate cost, contact our team of luxury wedding planners and get to know venues, packages, and more in Seychelles.
If you’re wondering when the best time to get married in Seychelles, you have a range of options.
The climate in the Seychelles is usually tropical, hot and humid with the occasional rainfall. The hottest months are October and November, while the coolest months are May through August. Most weddings usually take place between May and September when the weather is significantly cooler and more pleasant. The tradeoff is that during these months there may be greater chances of showers or storms. With warm and tropical weather year-round, Seychelles also offers an ideal backdrop for your beach wedding.
Whichever time of year you decide to go for your Seychelles wedding, just remember to always be prepared for both heat and rain! After all, it’s a tropical island with a reputation for its stunning beaches and unpredictable weather!
Seychelles wedding requirements:
To legally get married in the Seychelles, there are a few requirements you’ll need to fulfill. As an exotic destination, the Seychelles does have some additional stipulations for foreigners looking to wed in paradise.
At least one of the marrying partners must have resided in the Seychelles for at least 3 working days before submitting the Notice of Intended Marriage. This is to allow enough time for the necessary paperwork and meeting with the registrar. You will need to provide proof of accommodation for your stay.
You will need to provide original or certified copies of birth certificates, passports, evidence of citizenship or naturalization, and confirmation of marital status (divorce decree or death certificate if applicable). These must be in English or French, or come with a certified translation.
Notice of Intended Marriage
At least 3 working days before your wedding, you must submit a Notice of Intended Marriage to the registrar in the district where you plan to marry. You will both need to appear in person with the necessary documentation. The notice is then posted for public view for 3 working days before the registrar can issue the marriage license.
Once the notice period is over, you can obtain your marriage license from the registrar. The license is valid for 3 months, so you have flexibility in when you hold your actual wedding ceremony. With license in hand, you are free to get married in a civil ceremony at the registrar’s office or have a symbolic ceremony at your wedding venue of choice.
Following these steps carefully will ensure your beachfront or garden wedding in the Seychelles is legal and recognized. While it does require some extra paperwork, the rewards of exchanging vows in island paradise make it worth the effort!
What is the minimum age for marriage in Seychelles?
Minimum age – 18 for both the parties
With the ever-increasing number of weddings in Seychelles and the new civil status regulations, we now need 5 to 7 working days after the wedding to obtain all the necessary certificates, which takes us to 4 different government institutions and embassies.
For most countries, citizens of the USA, Canada, UK, and EU it is very simple. Only an original marriage certificate with an apostille is needed. We only need 1-2 business days after the wedding to get everything.
For UAE citizens, we need to provide a double set of certificates and additional proofs: an original marriage certificate and a certified copy, both with apostille, a Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) verification letter, and a UAE Embassy authentication stamp. The procedure takes at least 5-7 working days, depending on how busy the relevant offices and embassies are.
